From, January this year SCGF has implemented GEDSI (Gender, Equality, Disability, Social Inclusion) Framework. In this, addition to the women farmer’s application fees being discounted by 50 percent for the growers with disability complete discount of 100 percent and for youth applicants (below 35 years) discounted by 50 percent for farm and machine purchase.

In addition, all the women, youths and growers with disability for any farm and machine/ implement purchases would have reduction in minimum equity – farm purchase from 20 percent to 10 per cent and for machines and implements from 5 per cent to zero equity, provided fully secured mortgages are provided. These shows our commitment for Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) that supports women entrepreneurs under the RBF/ADB Initiatives, added Ms Ram.

These milestone reflects not only SCGF’s participation in the sector but also determination to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to national development.

Equally, we at SCGF acknowledges the dedication of its female staffs. Out of 41 employees, 19 are women, representing nearly half of our workforce. Their leadership, expertise, and service are vital to ensuring that our programs remain inclusive, innovative, and impactful. The positions include representation from Board level, Executives, Management and staff.  We are also honored to have Ms. Mereseni Marica of Seaqaqa, a very successful sugar cane farmer, advocating TISA/ Capital Insurance Mortgage Protection Scheme.

On this International Women’s Day, as part of our GEDSI and We-Fi Framework, SCGF continues to strengthen support measures for women, youth, and growers with disabilities. Ms Ram said that SCGF remains committed in its mission to empower women by ensuring equitable access to financial services, capacity-building opportunities, and inclusive programs that foster independence and prosperity. By investing in women, we invest in stronger communities, resilient families, and a more inclusive economy.
