Fiji’s National Development Plan (NDP), with the vision of “Transforming Fiji”, maps out the way forward for Fiji and all Fijians to realize our full potential as a nation. The a 20-Year Development Plan (2017-2036) and a comprehensive 5-Year Development Plan (2017-2021) have various programs, embedded with 17 Sustainable Development Goals (refer Appendix)
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL INITIATIVES
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Fiji’s National Development plan sync with those plans (NDP Page 3) such as innovative technologies that will be adopted for recycling, rainwater harvesting and storage, storm water. Furthermore, this will entail in building climate resilient water infrastructure that includes irrigation and boreholes for the agricultural needs of our growers The NDP also mentions electricity generation from renewable energy sources.
The NDP also mention that the Women will be empowered, allowing them opportunities for greater participation in leadership and decision-making across all sectors. It further states (NDP Page 5) that Gender inequality and discrimination will be eliminated, providing women with greater choice and freedom for their participation in the family and society.
Considering the above, any loan funding for:
- Clean Water & Sanitation through boreholes, rain water harvest, water tanks and or irrigation system (Clean & Safe Water Access SDG 6- Refer appendix) and Affordable & Clean Energy which could be through solar house kits (SDG-7 Refer Appendix) will have Application Fee discounted by 50% from 1st January 2022. Any other Climate Change Initiative (SDG 13- Climate Action), if required clarification to be sought.
- Gender Equality (SDG-5) – supporting the Women Empowerment- initiative for Women purchasing a Farm or Farm Machinery, will have Application Fee discounted by 50% from 1st January 2022.
Where there is various purpose (s) for a loan and if the majority of the loan is for above related purpose (s) then 50% of the Fee would apply on the total scale amount.
